@ChatCritical

An experimental platform seeking to re-imagine how performance criticism generates and is shared.

It was launched as an integrated installation within Crave Festival at Camden People’s Theatre.

MANIFESTO

An experimental platform seeking to re-imagine how performance criticism generates and is shared.

The conversation belongs to all of us, not a single privileged audience member. Here, the critic is not a teacher, they are a facilitator and moderator. This is an extension of the work, not in isolation to it.

Throughout the performance: the critic will live write and tweet questions that arise from the work.

After the performance: audience members will be invited to join the conversation, and in answering these questions (along with any others that may arise from the chat) create the critical discourse.

At any point: the artist(s) have an eternal invitation to respond. Understandably, it is a vulnerable position to enter a space where your work is being discussed. @ChatCritical is above all a space for KIND frankness!

Having taken part in the performance event together, the shared experience is ours. Let’s learn to own it.
